Mary Shelley's Frankenstein is one of the most horrifying characters (read monsters) in English language. Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley was born in 1793 and was 21 when Frankenstein was published. The story deals with an ambitious young scientist who creates life but then rejects his creation, a monster. Shelley died in 1851 after winning acclaims as a romantic writer.
