David Hume was a Scottish philosopher, historian, economist and essayist known especially for his philosophical empiricism. He turned into a skeptic late in his life and conceived of philosophy as the inductive science of human nature. He concluded that man is more a creature of sensitive and practical sentiment than of reason and introduced the concept of belief.
